Qiqi, assigned to 1/2B

HI! i am Qiqi, alumni of Riverside Sec,and was following group 1/2B during the Sec 1 Orientation camp.well, here's the reflections. The time spent with my group was pretty enjoyable, they had fun, made new friends and some students even show more than what was expected of them during the camp.A few were brave enough to lead cheers in front of so many people that they have just known or not known. This was commendable. i would also like to comend that the OGLs have done a great job during the camp. They were organise and have always known what to do,lead their groups well, and interact much with the sec 1s. Not forgetting the maincomm and St. Johns, a job well done too.The camp went on smoothly and according to schedule all because of you all. I truly have enjoyed and had fun in the two days with my attached group and would like to say to my group, they have done a wonderful job in winning the most creative cheer award and i believe they will have a bright future ahead,in Riverside or not. Cheers!

Nur Ashikin, assigned to 1/2B

I think that the camp was nicely planned and well organised. However, I've tried assigning other classes with my fellow alumni members and I think that the OGLs should be more firm in their statement/orders that they give out to the students. Some of the students did not listen to instructions and had to take such a long time to get to their positions. They only moved when one of the senior alumni told them to do so. The camp is supposed to be fun and enjoyable but that does not stop the student leaders to be firm so that all students will cooperate & have a great time together.
=)

Wei Hao, assigned to 1/7A

The camp was fun, especially during the games and cheers. The secondary ones literally screamed their hearts out while doing their own group and class cheers during the campfire too. The Main Committee and all the OGLs have done a wonderful job engaging with the secondary ones, teaching them the various cheers and leading the groups.

Jing Er, assigned to 1/1A

This year's secondary one orientation camp was quite enjoyable. The sec1s were more hyper than the previous batch. My attached group, 1/1A, was bonded. They were willling to communicate with each other all the time despite knowing each other for just less than a week. Even though some were naughty and playful, but they were also willing to listen to their OGLs. The best part of the camp was the campfire. I could see the sec1s really enjoyed. However, during the cheering part, some sec1s at the back were not joining in.

Jun Bin, assigned to 1/2A

hi,i am jun bin frm the alumni and i was assigned to class 1/2.
feel tt the camp is great, but there is still room for improvement.
attended the 2nd day of the camp.
i think tt these few area can be improved on.
-Games:instruction of the games could have been given out clearer by the OGLs.
-Campfire: firewood can be soaked few days earlier rather thn on the actual day, to ensure that the campfire would not burn down.
-Campfire: Kerosene 'bombs' can be made smaller before throwing into flames.to ensure the safety of those ard the campfire.
-Campfire: Should have included more cheers as the atmosphere isnt 'high' enough.
lastly, good job and keep it up! (:

Tyan Chwan Rong, assigned to 1/7B

This year’s Sec1 Orientation Camp is quite unique, compared to the previous years, as it was a Day Camp. It’s considered as a success as it’s the first time that Riverside is doing this and it isn’t easy to manage with the timing for a Day Camp.
I’m very happy to be following Group 1/7B. You guys are great. I remembered that your cheers aren’t loud at first as compared to the rest of the groups but as time goes, I seen improvement and you cheered louder and louder. I can also see great team work in you guys during the station games and the mass game.
I hope that this will be the spirit in all of you in the years to come, even though you will get separated when you’re in Sec 3 or even after graduating from Riverside.
Lastly, good luck and all the best for your studies in the future.
