Main Comm.

Khairul, 3/9

Although the camp is a day camp, to me, everything went well. Also, i can see the Sec 1s enjoying themselves throughout the time they spent at the camp. I can sense this by the smiles i see on their faces.
I really think that a overnight camp is better because not only they can bond even more, we also have more time for games and cheers. Overall, it was a great experience with the NEW Riversidians.

i think that this year's orientation camp went quite well except that some of the maincomm members and OGLs themselves are not very clear of the schedule. i feel that the OGLs should also join in some of the games, example blanket , as it can be a chance to know your juniors well and also let them feel that Riverside is not a 'scary' place , to those secondary ones that just entered the school . what went wrong was that we did not think of the accident that happended at chair-ish and i think that we should apologise to everyone, expecially the casualty and his family. During the games , the OGLs should also help us to keep the campers quiet when we are introducing the games, as its quite noisy during the station games.
THANK YOU :D

This year's orientation camp really gave me more exposure and experience of planning a successful camp. I learnt a lot from the planning process and do hope that I will be able to utilise the knowledge gained from the camp in my future endeavours. Making mistakes is inevitable in the planning process; we all learn from them and will definitely try not to repeat again. Planning the camp and doing the preparation work was not very tedious, as all Main Comm. members have did more than their fair share of work, I also tried my best to hand in required documents and complete the tasks given. At the start of the camp, everything was not really into place but after some time, I managed to feel the flow of the camp and helped whenever needed. Being part of OC'09 Main Comm. had enriched my life in RS and enabled me to better myself as I discovered new things that I can improve on. The vivid memories of the camp that was left behind will always remain deep within me.

Jostling through the crowd of all the new faces, I prepared for my schedules and files for this stirring event. As I stood at the stairs at the Quadrangle looking at the large swarm of those enthusiastic Secondary 1 students with many wide grins on their faces, I said to myself: “This is the day.” I promised myself to do everything I can to make this orientation camp a success.
Personally, I feel that the MainComm are all very cooperative and unified. As days passed with meetings, proposals and more discussions, we began to know each other even better and were able to build a cordial working relationship with one another. I believed that every one of us benefited in this Orientation Camp and enjoyed ourselves as much. Even every now and then there might be conflicts and disagreements within the Main Committee, we are still able to resolve the problems and are still like a big family. During the Orientation camp, the Main Committee members had put in effort in making sure that everything goes smoothly, and every camper have enjoyed themselves. In my opinion, I feel that the Orientation camp has a large space for improvement, as it was quite messy and disorganized. I hoped that next year’s Orientation Camp would be better.
The OGLs quickly adapted with the Secondary 1 students and brought the campers into the ‘camp mode’. When it came to the stimulating station games, everyone was already in a hyper mode. And as it reached campfire on day two, this was the jolliest time when the campers would emerge boisterously and surround the campfire and gave it their best shot. Three cheers for the OGLs and campers!
And of course, I must thank the Main Committee members for their hard work and continuous support for one another. I will never forget the great times we have spent while working with one another. Another three cheers for the MainComms!

Through this camp, I had managed to tap on my last year’s experiences and also managed to make certain changes to make the logistics affairs run better. I was glad that I have a good team to work with as during the planning process, my fellow members provided me ideas that I may have never thought of to solve matters more efficiently. On the actual camp, although they are hiccups occasionally, we manage to think on our feet and brainstorm for solutions quickly to reduce the inconveniences caused. Another plus point is that we worked fast as a whole team and in times of need, we adapt to the situation. There are some major problems though such as not stationing Logistic members during some periods that are necessary and the sudden shortage of logistics without prior notice, so I hope that the next batch of MainComm in the Logistics department can look into this to run the next Orientation Camp better. All in all, thanks for all who have helped in one way or another and I am honoured to be part of the MainComm for this Orientation Camp.

I feel that this camp was a total success. Basically from the laughter of the OGLs and the sec ones i could tell that already. Seeing the sec ones enjoying what we planned for them made it all worthwhile. I felt really happy to see them happy because they are the main reason that we stayed back to do so many proposals and knowing everyone's effort paid off it was quite touching. I was not attached to any sec one classes but i want to thank all of the sec ones for making this camp worthwhile for everyone and also the OGLs who helped the sec ones to bond and everything. Thanks all of you!

Overall, I felt that the camp was not bad...I was really glad that the camp has finally ended, as it has been a “long” process beforehand...and it was great to see the plannings were being carried out quite successfully. Be it preparing the camp during the holidays, or carrying it out, it was really a enjoyable and memorable experience, it is really worth remembering...
Good job people! =D

Amir, 3/7

This camp has been a great experience for me when I am organising it and also during the camp itself. Especially organizing for campfire. I feel that Alumni is great because they helped built up campfire structure and many more things. I feel that Main Comm. has done a good job well done.

Kai Yuan, 4/4

This camp is a very enriching one. This is the first time being a Main Comm., for the past two years, I have been an OGL, even though it is the same camp, but the overall experience is very different. I have learnt to be more outspoken and more responsible through this organisation of camp. Last but not least, great job everyone.

Rahayu, 3/1

I'm a Maincomm member under the Admin department . my other admin members were busy in the OPS collating the attendance for all the campers which inculdes the OGLs, maincomm and sec ones. not only that, we also had to update the latest events that will take place and for how long. not forgetting to open and lock the bunks and other rooms needed for the different activites. there was time when we had nothing to do , so i went to look around,to see how the campers were progressing.i can say that the campers have improved during the two day camp.On the first day, the were a bit quiet but on the second day,I could hear more noise coming from them as they did cheers with enthusiasm.Overall, this camp is a success but the enthusiasm could be better (: Good Job everyone (:

Debbie, 3/8

Being a part of the organising team for the Secondary One Orientation Camp 2009, it has definitely broaden my perspective and enriched my capacity as a leader. Throughout the whole planning of this entire camp, I definitely had to step out of my comfort zone - doing things which I wasn't familiar with. Such as I had to write proposals in a whole new format or I had to copy down meeting minutes. However, I certainly believe that by doing all these new things, it will definitely assist me so much better in all my future endeavours.
Behind the scenes during the actual days of the camp, there were definitely alot of hiccups that occured. Such major ones and some minor ones. But I believe it is really through all these life and first hand experiences/ situations that I'm able grow so much more in my area of leadership, my area of planning, my area of clarification. Its only after something that we've never expected happened, happened, that gave me this wake up call - "Hey next time, lets make sure that this wouldnt happen anymore! "
There are definitely alot of spaces for improvement in this camp, but let's plan a better one together for the 2010 batch of secondary ones. Be it whether this 2009 camp has been a successful one, let me just really thank our dedicated and faithful OGLs, and of course, to all my dear Maincomm, thanks for putting in all your sweat and tears, together we'll all do better and create a more successful camp experience for the next batch of secondary ones! (:

As this is my first year being a main committee member, i feel that i have learn many things and being exposed to many new things that i have not done before. I have learn how to plan a camp and even how to run a camp smoothly through this experience. Furthermore, teamwork is also needed in order for the camp to run smoothly. Although there may be problems along the way, i still felt that the camp was very successful with the help of all the students and teachers who were involved in it. Without these people, the camp would not run very smoothly. Furthermore, without the Secondary One pupils, the camp would also not go on. I felt that the Secondary One pupils have fun at the camp as there would play the games with passion and enjoyed the it. Without, this camp would not look like a camp. Hence, i felt that this was an very enjoyable and enriching camp and thanks you for all the people who made this camp a possible one.

Alaric, 3/7

generally, the camp is fun..but i feel that an overnight camp would be much more fun and the campers would have a stronger bond compared to a day camp.the organisation is good as we split up to do work.we also should maximise the space of the canteen instead of using the half of the canteen.the food should have more flavour and more protein instead of deitary fibre.the ops room also should be centralised at the camp site as it would be much more convenient.

Azura, 4/7

The Maincomm members did an amazing job organising it. I appraise the secondary 3 maincomm members for doing such an efficient job eventhough most of them are first-timers. OGLs were at their best but hopefully they'll be way better next year! The camp was fun but I feel that there is still room for improvement. Nevertheless, it was an opportunity not to be forgotten.

Tong Jun, 4/4

sec 1s oeii!!! For me,i felt that this year's sec 1 camp had been a real success.Because despite the fact that there was no overnight stay,i feel that the sec 1s still had fun and they have learn a lot of stuff during the camp.I feel that the OGLs have done a GREAT job leading the sec 1s.I could see a lot of them leading and cheering the sec 1s on.Of course, all of this is not possible without the sec 1s cooperation.Hope that the camp has been a enriching one for you guys.Good luck in whatever you guys do in the future(: stay happy~~
